Beatrice Mercado Shimada has been a REGISTERED NURSE since 2006 and  founder and Administrator of Senior Residential Care. At 22 years old, Beatrice learned the senior industry business and bought her first Senior Care home at 28 years old. With a great vision, compassion and great team next to her, she has more than doubled Senior Residential Cares location and clientele. Her professional experience has been varied but currently focuses her time in  geriatrics, case management and operations for Senior Residential Care. She has been with Senior Residential Care since 2001 starting off as a caregiver with the group home and advanced her career as a Registered Nurse in 2006 and is currently the ADMINISTRATOR for Senior Residential Care. 

Beatrice Shimada, RN, RFA, is a dedicated healthcare professional and compassionate leader in the non-profit sector. With over a decade of experience as the founder of Senior Residential Care, she has worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for seniors in her community. Beatrice’s commitment to service extends beyond her career, as she actively participates in various charitable initiatives and educational programs. Her passion for supporting vulnerable populations and fostering a spirit of kindness is evident in her everyday actions and leadership.

She also has been appointed by the State of Nevada (Bureau Healthcare Quality and Compliance) to be the CO-CHAIR for the Home for Individualized Care Advisory Council. She also received her Case Management certificate through Mulllahy and Associates in 2009. She is proud to have maintained an A rating for Senior Residential Care since the rating system was implemented by the State of Nevada in 2009. She was awarded Best Administrator by her peers in 2016 by ECHO. Beatrice also spends her time educating the community on a regular basis and providing educational credits to Nurses, Social workers and Long Term Care Administrators.

Aside from being the founder of for Senior Residential Care for over 10 years. She is a wife and mother to 3 lovely girls who are 9,7, and 3 years old. During her spare time, Beatrice Shimada who is very active in her church at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint. Every Sunday, she attends service and teaches the 5 year olds on what it is to be Christ-like and have the attributes of service. Recently, to honor the veterans, she had her 5 year old class make letters and take them to one of the Residential Facilities. Not only did they make the senior citizen happy but they were moved that they were not forgotten!

Shane Shimada is the CEO of Senior Focus Marketing since 2013  in Las Vegas Nevada. Shane Shimada has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to serving the senior community through his leadership and expertise. As CEO of Senior Focus Marketing since 2013, he has guided the company’s growth and impact in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shane’s dedication is evident in his proactive approach to addressing the unique needs of the aging population, ensuring that seniors receive personalized attention and support.

Shane Shimada is a dedicated leader in the nonprofit sector, committed to enhancing the lives of seniors throughout his community. With over 15 years of experience in consulting, building, and managing senior residential care facilities, Shane has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing the elderly population. His passion for service drives his work with various organizations, where he advocates for improved care, safety, and resources for seniors. Shane collaborates closely with local and state agencies, including the State of Nevada Division of Aging, to ensure every individual receives access to essential programs and support. His hands-on approach and commitment to ethical, compassionate care make him a valued partner in the mission to improve quality of life for seniors and their families. Owner of Sharpe Services since 2022.

Shane’s prior work includes more than 15 years of consulting, building and operational management of SRC Care Homes and Senior Residential Care Facilities. Their company focuses on ensuring the elderly population gets the care they need and deserve in a safe environment.  He works closely with State of Nevada Division of Aging to ensure their clients are enrolled in the appropriate programs to address any long-term care concerns or problems.

In addition, he also meets with Case Managers, Social Workers and Discharge planners regularly to ensure that the patients from acute settings are discharged appropriately and safely the lesson the revolving door effect that happens frequently in acute hospital settings.

Personal Philosophy

I have always embraced this motto as my guiding principle in life, believing that maintaining enthusiasm is essential for a fulfilling existence.

Family Background

I am the fifth child of a Filipino lawyer, Atty. Jose M. Tioleco, and a pharmacist, Fermina Reyes, who owned a pharmacy in the Philippines. Growing up in such a family environment instilled in me values of hard work and dedication. I am also a proud mother of two entrepreneurial daughters, Barbara and Beatrice, who continue to inspire me with their achievements.

Beliefs and Values

I firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of personal development and shapes who we are. As such, it has always been a priority in my life. My daily objective is to pray for unity within my family and protection from negative influences, emphasizing the importance of togetherness and faith.

Educational Background

In the Philippines, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Accounting. Additionally, I pursued studies in law, though I ultimately did not become a lawyer—a path that left me feeling somewhat unfulfilled.

Professional Experience

I dedicated twenty years to teaching English at ECC, one of the most prestigious schools in Japan. My commitment and effectiveness in this role were recognized through surveys conducted among Japanese students, in which I consistently topped my field.

Inspiration and Advocacy

I draw inspiration from the Filipino word KATATAGAN, which signifies resilience and stability. I encourage our youth to cultivate this virtue, enabling them to overcome life's challenges and grow stronger through adversity.

Early Life and Family Influence

Ronald Sharpe was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Throughout his childhood, he was surrounded by the love and guidance of his devoted parents and a large, supportive extended family that included aunts, uncles, and other relatives. These family members led by example, instilling in Ronald the importance of hard work, discipline, honesty, and the deep value of family. The strong foundation provided by his upbringing shaped his character and set the stage for the values that would guide him throughout his life.

Formative Years and Personal Interests

Ronald enjoyed an active and joyful childhood. He spent countless hours playing sports with neighborhood friends, which contributed to his sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Alongside his love for sports, Ronald developed a deep passion for music, which he fondly describes as “the songbook of my life.” During his early teenage years, he played hockey and continued to immerse himself in music, both of which became central to his identity and personal growth.

Discovering a Career Path

After graduating from high school, Ronald decided not to immediately pursue higher education, as he was still exploring his interests and career options. Despite this uncertainty, he remained confident in his strong work ethic and discipline, trusting that these qualities would eventually lead him to success. Ronald worked a variety of jobs, and through this process, he discovered that his passion for music, interacting with people, and vibrant social environments naturally drew him to the hospitality industry. He chose to build his career in hospitality, a field that aligned with both his interests and strengths.

Professional Achievements and Personal Fulfillment

Over the years, Ronald established a successful career in the hospitality industry. He takes great pride in both his professional accomplishments and the financial stability he achieved by setting goals and working diligently toward them. For Ronald, however, true success is defined by more than accolades or material achievements—it is found in happiness. He considers himself genuinely successful because he has cultivated joy and fulfillment in his life.

Guiding Principles and Life Lessons

The core principles that motivated Ronald in his youth—hard work, discipline, and honesty—continue to guide him today. Throughout life's inevitable challenges and difficult moments, Ronald has learned the value of looking inward with honesty and practicing self-reflection. One of the most important lessons he carries with him is that living truthfully allows a person to rest peacefully at night.

Gratitude and Philosophy

Ronald holds deep admiration and gratitude for his parents, whom he regards as the greatest people he has ever known. Their example continues to influence him throughout his life. While Ronald does not spend much time thinking about future ambitions, he feels a profound sense of contentment and gratitude for the life he has built. His greatest hope is to continue enjoying life with his wife and appreciating the blessings he already has.

Legacy and Final Reflections

Ronald describes his life in simple terms: his storehouse is full. As for how he will be remembered, he leaves that for others to decide. Yet, one belief remains constant for him: life is beautiful.

Angela Burnette serves as an Advisor to Senior Citizen Sidekicks (SCS), bringing leadership experience and a strong commitment to community service. She was selected to participate in the Clark County Leadership Forum. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation, where she supported outreach for youth in Nevada’s foster care system, helped raise funds, and contributed to scholarship efforts. She has also worked closely with the fundraising department at Opportunity Village. Angela regularly volunteers with organizations such as the Miracle League of Las Vegas, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, and Vassiliadis Elementary School. She joined SCS to share her insight and support the professional growth of its members. 

Angela has called Las Vegas home for 26 years, where she lives with her husband and three children.

Ms. Rachel Skidmore is currently the Director over the Office of Community Engagement for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) where she has served for over a decade. With over 6,000 employees, the LVMPD is the largest law enforcement agency in the state of Nevada and one of the largest police agencies in the United States. Within this role Director Skidmore oversees all aspects regarding law enforcement community engagement. Her team focuses on youth empowerment & leadership programs, youth anti-violence initiatives, homeless outreach, behavior health & social services, drug addiction support and program referrals, as well as the crisis intervention team, who seek to support individuals within our community. 

Ms. Skidmore has served in several roles throughout her time with LVMPD. She has held the role of Emergency Manager as well as the Deputy Director for the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, the state designated Fusion Center for Nevada. It was there that she managed various aspects to include law enforcement emergency management, critical infrastructure outreach, exercise development and implementation, preparedness planning, policy development, and grant program procurement. Ms. Skidmore has served in several positions with local, state, and federal partners, to include chair of the Critical Infrastructure Committee for the Governor’s Nevada Commission on Homeland Security; Nevada’s Homeland Security Resiliency Committee; the Vegas Strong Resiliency Committee, and the co-chair for the Local Emergency Planning Committee for Clark County, Nevada. Ms. Skidmore is also a member on the National Fusion Center Private Sector Engagement Committee which focuses on best practices and the intelligence and information sharing network throughout the country. 

Ms. Skidmore also currently serves as one of the board members for the Women of Metro, which is an outreach organization that mentors women internally for promotion in law enforcement and hosts a variety of community events. 

Ms. Skidmore received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. She recently received recognition by being awarded the Top 40 Under 40 award by Vegas Inc. for her work

within her community. 

During the harrowing events of 1 October, Ms. Skidmore responded and activated the Department Operations Center (DOC) responding to the largest mass shooting in modern American history. During these events, she conducted a joint-seal after-action report with the Clark County Fire Department as well as FEMA covering the details of the 1 October shooting, and the lessons learned within our community. Ms. Skidmore was recently hosted as the keynote speaker at the National Homeland Security Conference in New York City to speak on these response efforts. Ms. Skidmore also led the LVMPD emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has sustained the longest DOC activation ever conducted within LVMPD. 

Rachel has three beautiful little boys and her husband who keep her incredibly busy on their path to future MLB player stardom.
